From The Rocks

You may remember this original textile art original from last summer… ‘From The Rocks’. Well, I’ve decided to publish it as a limited edition - as part of my new coastal collection of work. I honestly never quite know whether a piece will work as a print but I was delighted at how true to the original this one turned out.

Inspired by those special times you find a solitary beach and totally absorb yourself with the elements. I love the contrast of the rolling ocean and the calm still rocks. Add a gentle sea breeze and I’m gone :)

I’m getting rather adventurous with framing for these new ones too! Well more like my framer is pushing me out of my comfort zone! I’m not complaining though - I’m delighted with this ‘beachy’ style wooden frame which actually works so well with this one.

Almost all of my beach and coastal pieces are inspired by the beautiful coastline close to where I live - the South Hams in Devon. Miles of beautiful beaches, hidden coves, boat filled estuaries and harbours. This one reminds me of a solitary beach at the end of the day, a time I particularly love a stroll on the sand and a bit of me time to glance at the ocean and clear. my mind.

Well it’s a wet and windy Sunday so I think I’m going to take myself into my studio and work on some more beach escapes.. and maybe a few spring flowers. I’ll decide when I get there :)
