Counting Down!!
It’s only days until the first open studio of the year. A new collection of textile art is about to be revealed!! I’m here in my home studio working on the final piece for the weekend. It’s been a while since I did a biggie - in fact too big for any of my workbenches - hence I’m on the floor!
I’ve kept this image black and white - don’t want to reveal too much just yet :)
Yep, making a great old mess as usual. The theme for this open studio is mainly coastal. I’m creating a very different piece for me. This is a coastal image of a lovely low spring tide. I often forget the array of treasures that reveal themselves when the tide is out. Glistening rock pools, battered knots of rope, driftwood, seaweed and of course, those velvety mossy rocks… Yes, I’m having fun with this one. Low tides are beautiful and I hope I do this one justice. So many textures to play with :)
You can see this piece in the flesh next weekend - 4/5th March 10-4 (until 8 on Friday) at my creative residence, Edge West Studio in Yealmpton. I’ve lots of new ones to reveal - big and small. You’ll also see a new collection by my studio buddy and talented landscape painter, Shirley Kirkcaldy. Hope you can make it.
