Art Aid….

One of my favourite art events of the year! The beautiful village of Newton Ferrers host this wonderful event every August bank holiday, in aid of the lifesaving charity, the RNLI. Lots of fabulous artists from the South Hams and beyond take part and it’s normally a great success - hoping this year proves to be no different. It is just so wonderful to see art events happening again!

This was the very first exhibition I ever participated in many years ago and so it will always be a special one for me. I remember my elation at selling everything I had in the show. Like so many charities, times have been hard due to cancelled events over the past year, so I’m hoping for a good turnout of support.

I’ve created a few new ones for this event - mini original coast pieces mostly. I’m always inspired to create coastal pieces for this show as not only is the RNLI all about the ocean but the idyllic waterside village of Newton Ferrers always fires me up to create something to do with water!

Here they are in progress - earlier in the week, I should add! These of course are missing the main characters - the pesky seagulls! Always fun work. I do love creating mini originals - such a sense of satisfaction to create a piece in a day. I equally love absorbing myself into a big piece too but this week was definitely a mini week :) Once the exhibition is up and running I will be revealing the finished articles! I have saved a couple for the website shop actually - so please do watch this space! If you’re local or perhaps visiting, please do call in. I won’t be there as I’ll be stewarding my own studio gallery but the friendly RNLI team will be there to greet you. Wishing you all a wonderful Bank Holiday weekend.
