Hot Off The Press!
Well, hot off the framing table anyway! Something I’ve been working on for a while now. My obsession for trees isn’t giving up. A fiery bronze colour palette here, hence the name ‘Autumn Fire!’. The colour palette obviously influenced the name but theres also reference to movement. Swaying autumnal branches can often resemble warm flames - in my mind at least :)
I would say if any artist had some influence over this one, I’d go for Klimt - both for style and colour. Klimt often used this colour palette and of course we all know the rich mosaic style texture of his work, often featuring shimmering metals also. Ive always been hugely inspired by the richness and uniqueness of his work and I would definitely say this is a shout out to one of the greats.
This was a rather time consuming piece of work but as always, so worth it. Literally hundreds of leaves, fused together to create clusters of rich ‘autumness’. I love the multi-dimensional appearance of this one :)
I adore the frame that’s it in too - it has become my new autumn frame for sure. A warm rusty toned wooden frame which is working perfectly on all of my new seasonal work.
This piece is now on display at my studio in Yealmpton (Edge West Studio) where I am spending most days now - that pre Christmas buzz of creativity is in full swing! It will feature on my website within the next couple of days but if you do have any enquiries, please do get in touch.
