The Art Of Apres Ski!

Yes, at long last I am working on a new addition to the Drinks Cabinet collection!! This time the theme is the much loved apres ski!! Much loved by skiers and snowboarders of course - although I imagine they are certainly missing their snow fixes this year :(

I've created a mood board to inspire and guide me with the design although in all honesty it just makes me want to jump on a plane and head for those snowy alpine mountains!

My drinks pieces are all about fun and this theme is quite fitting really!! Après-ski is about going out, having drinks, dancing, and generally socializing after skiing. FUN! It is popular in the Alps, where skiers often stop at bars on their last run of the day while still wearing all their ski gear. The concept is similar to the nineteenth hole in golf. I have to say I don't really like thinking about all of those empty apres ski bars at the moment but hopefully they'll soon start to fill up again before the snow vanishes for the summer!!

I have been skiing once, in Austria and I have to say the Apres Ski was one of the holiday highlights (daily!). I can't say I really took to the actual activity of skiing but I loved the mountains. the scenery and the great vibe associated with the Apres Ski period of the day. My drink of choice was always Gluhwein but there are many drinks associated with this event and if you're a skier or snowboarder, I'd love to know your post slope tipple!!! You can write it in the comments below if you have one - all part of my research!!

By the way the drinks don't have to be alcoholic beverages, even though my drinks ones often are. I'm keeping an open mind on this one!

I've already started prepping the bottles - you can see them all jumbled up here. They're not labelled yet as you can see - thats where the fun really begins! As always, I've recreated a few well known apres ski tipples you might recognise and of course I'll be creating my own brands of mountain liquor too!!

This is going to be fun!! Keep an eye out for more progress pics in coming days.
