New Studio Update…
As many of you know, I’m in the process of opening an exciting new creative residence in the South Hams with good friend and fellow artist, Shirley Kirkcaldy. Well after 6 months of renovation, we are nearly there and ready to open!!! We couldn’t open due to the pandemic of course, so we used the time to our advantage, giving the place a complete overhaul.
It’s still not quite ready but here’s a sneaky preview of Edge West Studio!
What makes Edge West unique is that it is a working studio as well as a lovely gallery space. It’s light and airy (artists love light) and we have filled it with two styles of art which work so well together. Shirley paints landscapes in oil and mixed media and of course, I do textiles. I love the fact that the walls are so eclectic and our styles really complement each other so well. The old mill in which the studio is located is full of character which just adds to the wonderful ambience. It really is such a perfect location.
Our ethos is to inspire others, both with our art and also inspire others to create too. Yes - we will be running creative courses and workshops - to suit all levels of ability. We have a wonderful classroom adjacent to the studio, again light and airy and perfect for small groups.
We open on the 29th May for a three day long opening weekend. We decided to wait until restrictions for visiting lifted and also we can get just a few more creations in!!
I truly can’t wait to have a studio gallery again. I have enjoyed working at home but there’s nothing like being able to hang your art on walls to allow people to truly appreciate it and more importantly meeting people who follow you as an artist. This has been pretty impossible over the last year, especially given the small confines of my home studio!
