Autumn In The Making…

It may be a little on the wet side this year, but the glorious season of Autumn is here and the crispy October sunshine filled days have certainly made up for the wetter ones. I don’t even mind the rain. The moisture often extends the autumn magic with trees glistening, the barks become richer in colour and hues generally intensify. Everything is good in autumn, for me.

And so, autumnal creating is well underway and in progress! I have made a promising start on some beautiful copper filled pieces that I'm truly excited about.

Firstly, beginning from the ground up (excuse the pun), creating my own autumn leaves…

These leaves eventually became this completed piece, ‘Autumn Treasure’. The beautiful ground foliage fallen from the trees, along with twigs and fauna that form this stew of treasure we trample over without even noticing!

My next autumnal creation is a little more ambitious and is actually the result of a year’s work, intermittently.

This is ‘Three Little Birds’

A cheerful robin redbreast, a striking great tit, and a small wren are nestled cosily together in the branches of an ancient autumn tree, all beneath a beautiful autumn sky. So much detail and intricacy in this semi-abstract piece.

It’s all about detail for me and this piece is full of textural treasures and intricacy. My aim was to beautifully capture the changing and vibrant colours of the season, while also adding a sense of life and movement with the charming presence of the birds. I was so pleased finally complete it. More details on this piece can be found here.

This is just the beginning of my autumn collection. More to come very soon. Please keep an eye for more posts, including social media, for more snippets and sneaky peeks. My studio in Plymouth s also open to the public Thursdays to Saturdays if you’d like to see more in the flesh.
