Sketching In Isolation

Yep! I am confined! I guess it was only a matter of time…

I’m afraid Covid 19 is working its way through my household and now of course, it’s my turn. Now that I’m not feeling quite so ropey I thought I would make the most of the situation and focus on some artistic creativity! I started doodling some coastal images as this is the theme I plan to focus on for the first part of the year. Such a happy theme to work on and this sketching was definitely therapy… while dreaming of things to come.

It’s been a while since I got the sketchbook out. Something I really didn’t make enough time for last year - although to be fair, it was a busy year! It’s always so good to get those images and flashes of inspiration on paper, even if very loose translations. These serve as references of course, but also help me to log my journey as an artist. Without realising it, styles and ideas evolve and develop - the not so good ideas are all part of one’s growth too. Every artist has them.

Good news is.. I’ve actually been cracking on with new pieces. These petite originals were started at the end of 2021 and of course this is the perfect opportunity to complete them. They link perfectly with my current theme of the coast and well… I just love doing them.

It’s actually rather cosy in here in the evenings and it has been an age since I’ve ventured out into my home studio in the dark! These pieces will be available (and finished) very soon. Keep your eyes peeled on my originals page. With all of this time on my hands I imagine it won’t be long before a newsletter will be heading your way too :)

I have some biggies planned too - ahead of the Edge West studio reopening at the beginning of March. Meanwhile, you can visit my studio by appointment of course - just drop me a message to make sure I’m there. You may well catch me working on something rather big and mighty!

So, not such a bad place to spend Covid isolation methinks….
