My First Triptych…

A new adventure in my textile art journey…
I was asked a few months ago to create a seascape in the form of a hanging tapestry - and a triptych! A triptych is basically an image presented in three parts. I won’t deny the tapestry idea was a challenge but one I (and my framer) embraced with enthusiasm! Each piece of the seascape was carefully bound and raised in a tray style frame to look like a traditional tapestry but contemporary at the same time. As many of you know my work does need to be glazed to protect it but conservation glass with no reflection whatsoever was the closest next best thing! The frame was painted the same colour as the clients wall too, to enable it to blend in to the background and showcase the art. I’m so pleased with the result and the clients are thrilled. Just needs hanging now!!! Well done to Artframe Solution, my trusty framers.

I must admit, I’ve never considered framing my work in this style before but am very keen to do more like this in the future! As much as I love the depth textile art offers, I feel this style of framing offers a whole new dimension and interest - so watch this space! I just have to make sure the edges are neat ( a new challenge in itself ha ha!)
