A Touch Of Frost!
The birch obsession continues! You may remember I created a couple of artworks last year featuring silver birch trees. Well, I've moved on a season. I'm working on a frosty wintry version now :)
I just love these gorgeous flaky trees and they lend themselves perfectly to textile art. It's been a while since I created a wintry piece and although it's a muted colour palette for me, the interpretation of this season is just as enjoyable as recreating a vibrant summers day.
This is one of a few small originals I'm creating at the moment - all very much inspired by nature. Maybe it's the pandemic and the fact that like most people, I've paused for a while and am spending more time than usual appreciating the beautiful surroundings that maybe we all overlook from time to time. The fact that I spend most days walking my dog in the woods has some influence too, I'm sure!
This is 'Tranquiity' - one of my autumnal birch forests from last year.
Textured work such as this is a time consuming affair and actually it's just so nice to have the time to create pieces like this. Pure pleasure. In fact, many of these pieces will be hanging in the new studio - all ready for my first visitors in March (fingers crossed!!)
